First big purchase!

We have been very good about not going overboard buying baby stuff so far. In fact, the only think purchased so far were some inexpensive onesies from Target the day I got the positive test. I have been looking at stuff lately though, including furniture for the baby's room. One thing I really wanted was a rocking chair or glider of some sort. I tried a bunch out at Babies-r-us and realized I only really felt comfortable in the ones that reclined, but the only ones that reclined were $800 with the ottoman!!!!!!! Well, I got very very lucky last night when I read a post on a pregnancy message board about someone finding a reclining glider for less than $200!!! Mr. Beaver and I went out this morning and made our first big baby purchase:

It isn't as pretty as the $800 one with the wooden frame, but it really doesn't look all that different- and more importantly, it is just as comfortable, but at a $600 savings! I am happy :)

Week 16 done!

Baby's now the size of an avocado!
Watch what you say...tiny bones forming in baby's ears mean she can now pick up your voice. A few more minuscule changes: Eyebrows, lashes, and hair are starting to fill in, and taste buds are forming.

How far along? 16 weeks
Total weight gain/loss: At the doctor's appointment I was up 6 lbs total for the pregnancy, but according to my scale at home, I went down three lbs from that night to the next morning, so it still fluctuates throughout the day by quite a bit.
Maternity clothes? I have some, but haven't worn them yet. Wearing the belly bands daily though!
Sleep: Hasn't been so great. I wake up because I need to sneeze or can't breathe through my nose, and then can't get back to sleep. Very tired this week.
Best moment this week: Convincing Mr. Beaver to set up our registry at target so we can start adding stuff online!
Movement: I could've sworn I felt the baby the other day for a second, but I don't believe it until it happens again. For now I've convinced myself it was in my head because the doctor had just explained what to pay attention for at my appointment this week.
Food cravings: still nothing
Gender: Team green! After Nov. 9, there is no turning back... only a couple more weeks to stay strong!
Labor signs: no thank you!
Belly Button in or out? Sticking out more and more every week. So gross.
What I miss: Not being able to try Mr. Beaver's margarita last night- it looked sooo good!!
What I am looking forward to: Telling work- I am planning to do it on Wednesday!!! and of course feeling the baby move!!!
Weekly wisdom: Register at target even if you don't want stuff from there- you get a $20 shutterfly discount code!
Milestones: Scheduled the big ultrasound!

Big ultrasound scheduled!

Quick update- We will be going for my big ultrasound on Monday, November 9 at 7:45 am. I can't wait!!!

16 week appointment!

Tonight was my official 16 week appointment. Exciting! Nothing really interesting happened... but we did hear the heartbeat again, did the typical weight, blood pressure, etc. I am up 4 lbs from last appointment!! The doctor said they like to see 2-4 lbs gain a month, so I guess I'm doing ok so far. That puts me about 6 lbs up total. We got the results from Mr. Beaver's blood work and - good news - he is O negative. Since I am AB negative, this means that the baby will also be rh negative, and I don't have to worry about problems with our blood mixing and making antibodies, etc. No Rohgam shot for me!

In other good news, it's just about time to schedule my anatomy scan ultrasound!!! The doctor said to schedule it between Nov. 6 and Nov. 20. I'm going to call tomorrow! From what I hear, the scan is about an hour long, and they measure all the different parts of the baby and check all of his or her organs- brain, heart, kidneys, etc. to make sure they are all working as they should be. We are so excited to see the little baby, and he/she will actually look like a baby this time!! I just hope we don't cave and listen to the tech when she tells us to look away. I think this will be the one and only chance to find out he gender before baby's birthday, so if we make it through the ultrasound, there's no turning back!

15 Weeks!

I don't think this picture is completely accurate.... My belly is growing, but it has shrunk from what it looks like here :) This was after a HUGE dinner the night before!

Baby's now the size of a naval orange!
Continuing the march toward normal proportions, baby's legs now out-measure his arms. And, finally, all four limbs have functional joints. Your fetus is squirming and wiggling like crazy down in the womb, though you probably can't feel the movements just yet.

How far along? 15 weeks :)
Total weight gain/loss: Fluctuate a good 4 lbs throughout each day. I'm guessing I will be up a total of 4 at my appointment tomorrow.
Maternity clothes? I have some, but haven't worn them yet. Wearing the belly bands daily though!
Sleep: Pretty normal, get up at least once a night to pee but other than that not much has changed.
Best moment this week: Looking at all of the baby gear in babies-r-us with my mom :)
Movement: Still can't feel it, but hopefully soon!
Food cravings: still nothing
Gender: Team green! As long as we stick to our decision of not finding out for one more month, there is no turning back.
Labor signs: no thank you!
Belly Button in or out? It's always been out, but it is sticking out more and more each week :( Not cute at all. It is now visible through many shirts.
What I miss: my clothes fitting :( And a good glass of wine with my mom.
What I am looking forward to: Telling work, feeling the baby move!!! The weekly emails and my week-by-week book both said that I should start feeling the baby between 16-20 weeks, and this is week 16!
Weekly wisdom: Go check out the baby gear before researching it- it will make a lot more sense what the reviews are talking about!
Milestones: Bought my first real maternity clothes!

Picture!

Here's a 4wk vs 14 wk comparison... picture was taken Saturday morning, first thing, exactly 10 weeks after the 4 wk pic.

Wow- 14 weeks already!

I am at work on a short break... I did manage to take a belly pick this morning, even though it was crazy early, but I won't be able to post that until Monday. Yesterday was my first of three 8:30am-9pm work days and when I got home I went straight to bed...I'm sure tonight and tomorrow night will be exactly the same!

Anyway... here's this week's report!

Baby's now the size of a lemon!

Your adorable little fetus is busy with thumb sucking, toe wiggling, (not so cute but equally amazing) making urine, and breathing amniotic fluid as the liver, kidneys, and spleen continue to develop. Lanugo (thin, downy hair) is growing all over her body for warmth.

How far along? 14 weeks :)
Total weight gain/loss: I have definitely gained a few pounds, but I'm not sure exactly how much.
Maternity clothes? There has been one day so far this week where my pants have been buttoned- other than that I'm wearing the bella band. Don't have any maternity clothes yet, but my mom and I are shopping for some when she visits next weekend!
Sleep: Pretty normal
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat again! (I did it again!)
Movement: Baby is moving, we can't feel it.
Food cravings: None, haven't even been very hungry lately.
Gender: Won't be able to answer this until baby's birthday!
Labor signs: no thank you!
Belly Button in or out? I have an outie, so it's always out. It's already starting to look a little different (sticking out a lot), and I'm worried.
What I miss: my clothes fitting :(
What I am looking forward to: My mom's visit!!!! And telling school/work
Weekly wisdom: Eat a little bit (or at least make sure you have something in your stomach even if you aren't hungry. Had a slight scare last weekend when my blood sugar plummeted...
Milestones: The belly is DEFINITELY growing! I almost couldn't find any business clothes for my conference this weekend because none of the pants fit...

First trimester- Done!!

To celebrate finishing the first trimester, this week's belly pic is extra special :)

Ddo you know what the noise is behind the static is?
That is our baby's heartbeat! Very exciting, very comforting to hear :)

I get weekly emails about the baby's development. they are interesting because they tell me how big the baby is! I've decided to start including that info here with my weekly survey.

Baby's now the size of a peach!
Your fetus is forming teeth and vocal cords...savor this, their nonfunctional phase. Baby is approaching normal proportions, with his head now only one third the size of his body. And intestines are in the process of moving from the umbilical cord to baby's tummy -- much more convenient.

How far along? 13 weeks. This means on Monday I hit the 1/3 mark! (40weeks/3 = 13.3 weeks)
Total weight gain/loss: Still thinking I'm up around 5 lbs, but only find out the official change at my doctor's appointment, not until the 20th.
Maternity clothes? No maternity clothes yet. I tried a couple of dresses on at target and they were waay too big, so I'm thinking I'm stuck with the few pants that still fit, and I bought a bunch of loose fitting shirts to try to hide the bulge that appears by mid-morning.
Sleep: Pretty normal
Best moment this week: Hearing the heartbeat again!
Movement: Baby is moving, we can't feel it.
Food cravings: No specific cravings, just food in general.
Gender: Won't be able to answer this until baby's birthday!
Labor signs: no thank you!
Belly Button in or out? I have an outie, so it's always out. It's already starting to look a little different (sticking out a lot), and I'm worried.
What I miss: feeling like my clothes look cute on me...I don't wear the loose-fitting look well.
What I am looking forward to: telling school/work
Weekly wisdom: The busier I stay, the less tired I feel! BUT- important to stay hydrated and eat enough... came way too close to fainting yesterday after being on my feet for too many hours straight.
Milestones: Finishing the first trimester!!! Some people/doctors say it ends when you've completed week 12, but I think everyone agrees it is over by the end of week 13!
